Execution of concepts/ ideas(Brief view)
Recap - Weapons sketch(Proposal Slides)
We planned to jump straight into creating the actual weapons which we will be "dragifying". The weapons were 3D designed then 3D printed and primed by Jia Sheng.
3D designed weapons
3D printed weapons
Surface smoothing & priming of weapons
Dried weapons, ready for painting/ decorating
Beads, rhinestones etc. & fabrics for decor after painting
16th of February(Base coats/ painting) - Group met up on campus to begin the painting process and move forward from there. I chose to dragify the Keris. Before painting, we looked through Pinterest for some much needed inspiration. I painted the Keris with base coats of emerald green, gold, pearl white, grey and white. It was a tedious and slow process as to achieve a solid base coat, the surface had to be painted over multiple times, and to wait for each coat to dry before painting another.
19th of February(Detailing) - I had decided to paint the shaft of the Keris rose gold as I felt it would have a stronger look as opposed to the boring pearl white. I had also painted over the supposedly grey areas to black as I thought of the patterns visibility which will be done using gold and I knew a black complement gold most. I was pretty happy with that change.
The shaft still looked empty and I thought of suitable designs which would fit the ever so thin, wavy surface of the Keris. I'll be honest it took me a lot of thinking to reach a conclusion. I had decided to go for a mythical creature, a dragon just below the neck of the Keris and as it flows down its curvatures, a snake body will be extended all the way down to the Keris, to its head. I feel that will give an illusion of an actual snake moving along the Keris, emitting a sense of fear to eyes which lay on it. These two elements take inspiration from the traditional design of the Keris. While I want to "dragify" this weapon, I also want to maintain its origins.
Bedazzling/ Decorating - I gave ideas on the kinds of rhinestones/ beads I would like to have on the Keris as well as its placements on the weapon. This was communicated to Tress as the actual assembling of the decor is done by her.
**Images of these processes are shown in detail in the final slides below**

Reflection
In the beginning of this project, I felt pretty lost and overwhelmed as I felt like I didn't know my purpose/ the purpose of moving forward with this culture. But with the support of an amazing group leader, Jia Sheng, it made things a whole lot bearable and overtime I was able to pull through and do my best which led this project to a fulfilling outcome.
I've learnt so much from my endeavours and experiences through this project, as well as from my group mates who taught me assets which I needed as a creative media student.
Honestly, before this I hated group projects due to horrible experiences last semester. But now I feel that I'm not completely against the idea and sometimes its good to have other inputs, collaborating, learning and supporting one another as it leads to bigger and better ideas.
I feel that I was able to more effectively execute the idea while considering every meaning behind each element and to expand on those. Such skill is not easy and I've gotten much better in doing so. My experience in this project was bitter sweet but I wouldn't have changed that for anything.
